Lifetime Achievement Award

There are certain individuals whose sustained contribution to sport in Nottinghamshire over many years merits special recognition. This award celebrates a truly special sportsperson who has made a lasting impact on the region through their phenomenal career in sport. The winner will have made an outstanding contribution to sport over a minimum of 15 years.

Sportsman of the Year

The Sportsman of the Year Award celebrates the Nottinghamshire player in any sport that has most impressed this year. It will be presented to an athlete who competes with a high level of skill, shows immense dedication and has achieved great accolades within their sport. Entrants will have displayed an outstanding level of personal achievement at district, county, regional, national or international level. Quite simply recognising the best of the best, this award goes to an outstanding individual that the whole of Nottingham can be proud of!

Sportswoman of the Year

The Sportsman of the Year Award celebrates the Nottinghamshire player in any sport that has most impressed this year. It will be presented to an athlete who competes with a high level of skill, shows immense dedication and has achieved great accolades within their sport. Entrants will have displayed an outstanding level of personal achievement at district, county, regional, national or international level. The ultimate high achiever, this award acknowledges performances of the highest quality from a truly inspirational sportswoman.

The Brian Clough OBE – Manager/Coach of the Year

Playing tribute to the legendary Nottingham Forest Manager Brian Clough, this award recognises an individual who has inspired, plotted and motivated their team to achieve great things this year. Their hard work and dedication is recognised in this category and the winner will be celebrated for their contribution to their chosen sport. A qualified coach or manager (paid/unpaid) who has made a major contribution to the lives of people through their coaching or managing will be eligible to enter this award.

Nottinghamshire County Cricket Player of the Year

Cricket is the national sport of England. Recognising the most exceptional Nottinghamshire County Cricketer of the Year, this award celebrates this most beautiful of beautiful games!

Nottingham Ice Hockey Player of the Year

Nottingham is famous for its ice hockey team, and this award celebrates the best Nottingham Ice Hockey Player this year. This award will recognise the player who has had the most outstanding season in the past 12 months.

Amateur Sportsperson of the Year

This award is open to sportsmen and sportswomen across any discipline who compete as an amateur. It will be presented to an athlete who competes with a high level of skill, shows immense dedication and has achieved great accolades within their sport. Entrants will have displayed an outstanding level of personal achievement at district, county, regional, national or international level.

Team of the Year

Demonstrating amazing sporting ability and embodying the true spirit of team-work, this award is for the team that have put in the most inspirational performances of the year. This award celebrates the very best of Nottinghamshire’s Sport’s Teams. A team of two or more people who have participated in a team competition. Subsections of an overall team will not be eligible. Individual teams who have achieved success in their chosen sport as district, county, regional, national or international level will be eligible to enter this award.

Club of the Year

The Club of the Year Award recognises the most outstanding Nottinghamshire sporting club. Taking into account all aspects of the club, both on and off the pitch, this award celebrates a club that the whole of Nottinghamshire can be proud to get behind. All clubs that enter this award are likely to have achieved or be working to achieve Clubmark or similar club accreditation and have good school to club links. They will have committed coaches and volunteers and the club will have developed over recent years. The club performers may not necessarily be performing at a high level.

Disabled Sportsperson of the Year

This award will recognise the most outstanding disabled athlete of any age, who has great talent, and has demonstrated motivation and determination to succeed in their sport.

All applicants will have displayed an outstanding level of personal achievement at district, county, regional, national or international level.

Community Award

Community is at the heart of the Nottingham Sports Awards. Bringing communities together and inspiring the whole of Nottinghamshire, sport can have a hugely positive impact on the life of communities. This award has been designed to celebrate a substantial contribution to the community, highlighting an individual or group who has added to Nottinghamshire’s community through sport on a large or smaller scale.

Under 19/School Team of the Year

This award recognises a school, college or youth team that has excelled in its chosen sport. Demonstrating an inspiring level of dedication to achievement, great teamwork and building upon their success continually for excellent results

Service to Sport Award

This award recognises the huge contribution of Nottinghamshire people in helping others to get active, and take part in sport.

It will be awarded to an individual or organisation who has changed the quality of life and improved the health of Nottinghamshire people. Applications are welcome from schools, workplaces, community clubs and organisations or individuals with a compelling story to tell about a unique contribution to people’s active lives.

Young Sportsperson of the Year

This award is designed to highlight the sporting stars that we will all enjoy watching in professional sport in the future. Celebrating the achievements of a hugely talented young sportsperson under the ages of 21 years, this award recognises the dedication, hard-work and sheer skill of the county’s most promising young talents.

Volunteer of the Year

This award recognises an individual of any age who gives up so much of their own time to provide the region with their help and support in any sporting discipline. An inspirational individual and example of true dedication, the winner of this award will be a valuable part of any community. All applicants have made an outstanding contribution to sport as an official, administrator or volunteer.
