“On 8 June 2017 Central College Nottingham and New College (ncn) merged to form Nottingham College which aims to be the leading provider of sport and fitness education in Nottingham. Sport is one of the College's most popular subject areas with courses ranging from level 1 BTEC Sport through to a Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching. As well as our academic courses, we also run Sport Academies for aspiring athletes/sports performers and an extensive Sports Volunteering and employability programme to develop leadership and coaching skills. There are many former students who are now professional athletes including GB hockey player Helen Richardson, Premier League winning Leicester City captain Wes Morgan, Bournemouth AFC defender Simon Francis, Harlequins rugby union hooker Joe Gray and England international cricketer Jenny Gunn. The College has developed a successful partnership with Basford United FC over the last three years which sees students study a sport course at the Football Club as well as provide a pathway for elite young players to train and play for the first team.
Nottingham College is proud to support the Nottingham Sport Awards and in particular, the Young Sportsperson of the Year category. We wish all nominees the very best of luck.”
